Open Commons Congress 2019 – Labour and health in a digital world
Friday, June 14 2019, 9:30am – 5:30pm
Digitization of our working environment is in full gear: Since more professions are becoming automatable the fear of job loss becomes an increasing issue. Conditions of employment become more flexible and demand-oriented. Hard-earned labour rights are on the line of being lost and replaced by a new social class of the so called „working poor“.
What can be done if even qualified professions like tax accountants or doctors can be replaced by algorithms, software and hardware?
This development brings growing necessities of new occupational qualifications of employees, of secure working conditions as well as of new forms of organisational structures. All that changes the ways we work and our personal relation to labour.
Beside risks, this development brings new chances for the working people as well as for the industries too: New technologies don‘t necessarily lead to particular ways of how we work but enable a whole range of new possibilities for our future. How do we want to work and how should machines and software support us for that matter?
The Open Commons Congress 2019 features contributions by experts in the fields of labour and social policies, economy and technology, psychology and philosophy and provides a wide overview of one the most far-reaching changes of our time.
